As a new year begins, some things don’t change. The Pirate Code is still read every day on the announcements and students are rewarded for being Respectful, Responsible, and Involved. Every week, not only is a student recognized for their efforts, but a teacher is selected as well.

Assistant principal Mr. Gene Grimshaw was picked as the first Pirate Code Staff Winner of the 2018-2019 school year. He gave the winning ticket to junior Maurice Blackmon.

“It’s a honor to be the first recipient of the Pirate Code staff winner for 2018-19,” Grimshaw said. “It is a pleasure to support the students to be more responsible and respectful.”

Blackmon received the Pirate Code ticket from Grimshaw because he is a good example of how to get involved in school.

“He is a member of the Pirate Code Leadership Team and has done an excellent job of promoting it,” Grimshaw said.

After students are caught being a Pirate and doing the right thing, they could receive a Pirate Code ticket from a faculty or staff member. After putting their ticket in one of the Pirate Code boxes around school, a winner is picked every Friday.

Every week, a different Pirate Code Staff Member of the Week will be selected from the Pirate Code tickets that students have turned in.

Remember the Pirate Code. Be Respectful. Be Responsible. Be Involved.
