Isaiah Wilkes returns to team after a high ankle sprain
September 27, 2018
Senior football player Isaiah Wilkes returned to the football field after having a high ankle sprain. The second team all-state defensive end from last year got injured during Week 3 against Parkway North. He made his comeback in the game against Rockwood Summit.
Q: How did you injure yourself?
Wilkes: “Well, a rather big fella rolled onto me from behind and caused me to basically do the Michael Jackson-toe thing to a dangerous extreme.”
Q: How’d it feel to be out for 2 weeks?
Wilkes: “It sucked because I felt like I was letting the team down at times, but at the same time, I think it was good for some other guys to get game time and prove themselves.”
Q: What did you do to recover as soon as possible?
Wilkes: “I iced it every day for 20 minutes on and off for hours at a time and I kept it elevated anytime I could. I stayed off of it, and once I could put pressure on it, I did my exercises whenever I could.”
Q: How did you feel about playing this week?
Wilkes: “I felt good about it. I look forward to getting back out there and helping the team out on the field.”
Wilkes and the rest of the Pattonville Pirates will be back on the field this Friday to face off against Marquette on Oct. 5. The game will be shown live on PattonvilleTODAY.com/LIVE
