Thousands of Taylor Swift fans poured into downtown St. Louis on Tuesday, Sept. 18, night for her concert at the Dome at America’s Center.

Some spent thousands of dollars on their tickets. Others spent hundreds. One person spent nothing.

Senior Sarah Johnson was the lucky winner of the yearbook contest to win tickets to the concert.

Moxie, an organization that brings free music to high school journalism programs, provided the tickets for fundraising or raffle prize incentives.

The high school yearbook raffled the pair of tickets to a student that had already purchased the 2019 Echo. There were 253 entrants in the drawing.

Johnson was surprised at the beginning of her 7th hour class when senior editor-in-chief Madison Brown walked in asking if she was there and presented her the tickets.

Her favorite part of the show was when Taylor Swift sang her old songs because that was “what I listened to growing up.”

The concert was an overall nostalgic experience for longtime fans.

“It was super fun,” Johnson said. “I’m glad I got to go because, well, it’s Taylor Swift.”
