Students and teachers from Pattonville High School, Pattonville Heights Middle School and Remington Traditional School joined other tuba and euphonium players from the region to participate in the annual TubaChristmas at the St. Louis Galleria Mall on Saturday, Dec. 8. TubaChristmas is an event that features only baritones and tubas.

The event is open to the public and included a huge variety of people. The youngest attending person was 11 years old while the oldest attending person was 90 years old. There was in total, 162 people in this collection of players – 12 coming from the Pattonville School District.

Freshman baritone player Hayden Langston enjoyed his second year at TubaChristmas.

“It was fun to play with my section and more,” Langston said.

Sitting with other baritones, Langston enjoyed playing new music with people he knew well and people he has never met before.

“The music we have played had a different effect than usual,” he said.

When in a normal band, there is balance with all the different instruments, but in this band, it was a different story: It was all about the bass.

The bass players had fun alone with no others to stop them.
