Villa Duchesne lacrosse controls match-up against Pattonville

Nathan Schiermeyer, Sports writer

The Pattonville girls’ lacrosse team lost to Villa Duchesne 17-6 in a very lopsided game. Bianca Johnson, Victoria Lofland and Leslie Azwell each scored 2 goals in the 4th quarter against Villa Duchesne (1-1). Ellie Marshall for Villa Duchesne led all scorers with 10 goals and added 3 assists. Maria Adamitis scored 4 times and Meg Grewe scored twice.

Leslie Azwell was named a girls lacrosse player to watch by the St. Louis Post-Dispatch. She scored 67 goals, good for fifth-most in the area, for a Pattonville team that went 16-5 last season, including a 10-game winning streak late in the season.

Pattonville lacrosse is off to a slow start this year however and will play a total of five games on the road before having a home game on April 11 against Incarnate Word.

The Pirates lost the season-opener against Marquette (1-0), 17-5. Leslie Azwell had 3 goals and Bianca Johnson added 2 in the loss.
