Farmington Invitational Honors PHS Band and Color Guard
October 2, 2019
As of Saturday, September 21, the PHS Band and Color Guard were announced the winners of the Farmington Invitational. The competition lasted all day, and PHS was competing against nine other schools from the area.
Band and Color Guard practice each morning from 6:45 a.m to the end of 1st hour at 8:12, as well as Tuesday and Thursday evenings. Color Guard is being pushed hard this year and they have been working to make the show the best it can be.
At the Farmington Invitational, the Band and Color Guard were judged on their performance and the overall looks of their theme. PHS dominated, managing to take first place in every category.
When the Color Guard Coach, Charlie Bourrage, described his reaction, he said, “I was very, very, happy…mostly for the kids because they work very hard and they don’t always get the credit they deserve.” This was the first win with Coach Bourrage, and the team has been preparing since last year. Color Guard hopes to improve their skills and make all the rest of their performances even better, but they also want to just overall enjoy it.
