Lanes and Waves: Girls’ Swim Team Sweep Away Competition

The Pattonville Girls’ Swim Team swam through this season with many successes. The team competed at Suburban Red Conferences on February 9, 2022, where they earned seventh out of nine schools overall. Sophomore Christina Bae was eighth in the 100 Butterfly.

The season was good, we did really well at conference. I’m very proud of all the girls.

— Lucy Ridings

For Christina Bae, her experience with the team was out of her comfort zone. “It was very new and stressful, I didn’t know what I was getting myself into, although it got better and easier.”

“It was very welcoming. The coaches are understanding, the team was very empathetic,” Bae said. “A caring team is a requirement for success.”

Although the team was small, a close knit team can be more successful than a large one. “It was a smaller team, but we grew closer as the season grew,” Madison Leckrone said.

The season for girls’ swimming was a bumpy, but worthwhile one. The team viewed the season with happy memories. “ I don’t think we would change anything,” Captain Lucy Ridings said.
