On October 18, 19, and 21, Pattonville’s theater group, the Pirate Players, performed their annual fall play, The Hope and Heartache Diner by Lindsay Price. The company spent two months putting together this show and put on three performances over the span of four days.
The show follows main character Felix Brown, played by sophomore Esmé Hurlbut, through her last day at her family’s owned diner, Duke’s Diner. Throughout the day, the audience sees glimpses into the diner’s past, replaying events as Felix narrates them.
“My favorite part is getting to watch all the scenes; I like being there to watch it all,” Hurlbut said.
Even behind the scenes, there’s memories being made there too.
“I like joking around with everybody backstage and just hanging out with everyone outside of theater,” Hurlbut said.
The Pirate Players are performing Shrek in February of 2024, with auditions on November 6, 7, and 8.
