Running for miles every day may not sound like the most exciting or enjoyable thing to
do, but for Margaret Hall, a French teacher and cross-country coach at PHS, it has been one of her favorite hobbies for years.
Hall started running in her junior year of high school but has always led an active life,
playing softball and dancing for 15 years prior. Hall loves traveling, but
mostly she loves to spend her time with her husband and two children. Hall sees her family as
her greatest accomplishment and takes a lot of pride in the people they have become. Hall has
always seen family as very important which is what led her to run in the first place.
“My dad was a middle school cross country coach and amazing runner,” Hall said, “so
once I took an interest, he was and still is my biggest supporter.”
Hall has been coaching Cross Country since her first year of teaching nine years ago.
“I’ve always been an athlete and, cross country is my favorite high school sport. I also wanted to
be more involved than just teaching, so this was a great way to get to know kids better.”
Hall has spent many years coaching so it has become much less challenging. She can recycle workouts from years prior but with every new year comes girls with different needs.
Although Hall spends less time planning than she had in the past she still spends lots of time
calculating goal times and coming up with new and improved things to do.
Hall has led the girls cross country team to many awards and pushes
her runners to do the very best they can every single day. As a very passionate and energetic
coach, the cross country team would not be the same without her.
