New art teacher Christen Casaine views teaching as more than a profession. “It’s more than a job; it’s a passion, and I love connecting personally to my students,” Casaine said.
The new Pattonville hire finds joy in working with his students. “I wanted to do something that I was passionate about while also helping others. I really enjoy working with kids and being able to help them find their voice through art,” Casaine said.
Casaine’s artistic journey began during his elementary school years. “I really got into art when I was in elementary school. It pulled me into a way to create. The teacher I had was amazing and really inspired me and I learned the ability to work with my hands. It really set me up for success,” Casaine said.
For Casaine, the most rewarding aspect of teaching is witnessing student growth. “Just seeing students grow, really develops skills that they may not have felt confident in before. Seeing their excitement after the hard process is the payoff of my job,” Casaine said.
As a resident, Casaine feels particularly connected to the school community. “I live here in the community. I love their engagement and the opportunities this district gives. The family and student body baffle me. I come from a small private school of 200 kids, which encouraged me even more to come here,” Casaine said.
