Kristen Tinsley is a new librarian at Pattonville High School. This is her first year at Pattonville. Her most recent position was as a librarian at another school district.
What made you decide to be a librarian? “I was an English teacher for a long time and I love to read. I love books and I like helping kids find something that they might enjoy reading and hopefully help them figure out that reading isn’t as terrible as a lot of them think it might be.”
Why did you choose to be a librarian at Pattonville? “I was a librarian for several years at a middle school, but most of my time in education has been at a high school. I missed being around high school kids and I just needed a change, so I was excited to be able to come here.”
What is your favorite book and why? “Oh, man. That’s almost an impossible question to ask a librarian. I would say probably one of my favorites is “The Art of Racing in the Rain” by an author named Garth Stein. I don’t usually like to read books with dogs in them because usually the dog dies, and that makes me really sad, but this one, a friend of mine told me I needed to read, and I was very against reading it. I read it and I loved it, and it is one of the best books I’ve ever read in my life.”
