What is a normal day like in your class?
“I have three early modern history classes with freshmen, and then two with sophomores. Usually, we’ll do some kind of notes and then I like to finish up with an activity. Tomorrow, we’re doing a simulation about sharecropping. We start every day with a warm-up slide with some kind of discussion topic that will be the lesson for the day.”
What do you most enjoy about being a teacher?
“My students. I love history, but getting to talk to them and build relationships with the kids is why I do it.”
What do you hope to achieve as a teacher?
“If I can make just a couple of kids enjoy history, that’s the big goal.”
