For many students, May 4 was a day rushed with school and many other activities. It consisted of hair appointments, make-up sessions, and other beauty routines. Juniors and seniors, in addition to a few underclassmen, attended prom that night held at the Sheraton Westport Hotel.

The prom experience for girls is such a harder process than for guys. Junior Megan Reese believes she had much to do in so little time.

“Having prom the same day as regular school really put my time management skills to the test,” she said. “I had so much to do and I felt like I didn’t have enough time to complete everything. In the end, everything came out perfect and I was happy with the results.”

Senior Dakari Streeter arrived at prom with his date around 7:45 p.m.

“We took pictures for about an hour and a half,” Streeter said. “By the time we got to prom, the food was already served. After prom, we got food so it was a cool night.”

Senior Prom King David Ellison Jr. was not necessarily surprised to win. According to Ellison, it was all in the plan.

“Last year at my junior prom, I told Zay that I would be king next,” he said, “so it felt good to keep my word.”

Kelsey Van Hook and David Ellison will return next year to Prom 2019 to crown the Class of 2019’s King and Queen.
