Super Bowl Sunday was supposed to be a big game, but the New Englands Patriots’ 13-3 win against the Los Angeles Rams left some fans disappointed. Despite the low-scoring performances from the two teams, some students were sitting on the edge of their seats waiting to see what the final score was in the game.

Shawn Brooks bet against five different people that the Patriots would win against the Rams and won $320 in total.

“I was confident they would win because Tom Brady is the G.O.A.T. and Jared Goff wasn’t an experienced quarterback in the Super Bowl,” Brooks said. “[Rams running back] Todd Gurley wasn’t showing up at all in the playoffs.”

Hayden LaZear also made bets for the Super Bowl but picked the Rams to win. He lost $20.

“I didn’t want to see the Patriots win because I don’t like Tom Brady,” LaZear said. “He wins too much.”

Another senior, Kyle McCain, bet and won $20 after picking the Patriots due to the team’s head coach, Bill Belichick, having the best playbook in the game.

Brady and Belichick are now the winningest quarterback and coach tandem in the postseason. They have the most Super Bowl appearances (9) and Super Bowl wins (6).
