Parent/Teacher Conferences to be held March 3-4

Parent/Teacher Conference
Parent/Teacher Conferences at the high school will be March 3 and 4.

The truth about students will be told to parents that attend Parent/Teacher Conferences on March 3-4 at Pattonville High School. Parents will have the chance to talk to teachers and find out what their students have been doing academically – and socially – so far this semester.

Parent/Teacher Conferences will be held on Wednesday, March 4, from 4:30 p.m-8 p.m. and Thursday, March 5, from 4:30 p.m-7: 30 p.m.

Teachers will be located in the following areas:

  • Teachers’ Last Names A-K – Main Gym
  • Teachers’ Last Names L-Z – Cafeteria
  • Band, Choir, Orchestra – Main Gym
  • Pattonville Special School District Teachers – Room B104
Parents will also be able to sign up for PowerSchool access in the front office or in Dr. Dobrinic’s office.
Parent/Teacher Conferences are held so parents can talk to teachers and get updated on their kid’s grades and classroom behavior. It also allows parents to meet one-on-one with the teachers and ask any questions they want regarding their child.

The grades on the progress report card given to parents at conferences are from the end of Grading Period 4 (Feb. 19). These grades will not reflect what has been done in the classroom since then.

“I wish they didn’t do that, because my grades have come up since then and my parents will think that is what I currently have in the class,” Tyra Riley said.

With about 12 weeks left in the semester, these grades are not permanent yet.

“I’m not as worried now knowing that I still have two grading periods left to get my grades how I want them,” Jordan Vence said.

Parent/Teacher Conferences are meant to help students get on the right track, and sometimes teachers even congratulate students and say positive things to the parents.

“My mom isn’t coming, because she has to work, but I never liked going to them anyway,” Taitum Willis said. “I used to always get in trouble at them, but they do actually help you.”

Due to Parent/Teacher Conferences this week, there is no school for the high school on Friday, March 6.
