Pattonville blacks out because of power failure

IMG_3874

A hum was heard throughout the large atrium of the pool on Monday night, and then, just as suddenly as the hum started, darkness filled the room.

Pattonville High School’s pool, stadium, and parking lot lost power around 7:50 p.m. Monday night during the Parkway Swim Club meeting.

“We have no clue what happened, but there is a rumor of a downed transformer,” evening custodial supervisor John Gaffney said. “We’re just trying to get everything up and running again.”

Swim classes ended 30 minutes earlier than planned because of safety precautions.

By the time everyone had left, the parking lot and stadium was relit; the pool was still trying to recover power.
