Jehnna Azzara is a sophomore who enjoys writing, acting, is really good at special and make-up and recently has taken up color guard. But there’s one activity that is takes a big part of her life: dancing.
Azzara said she started dancing when she was 2 to 3 years old. She started off in tap, ballet and tumbling. Her first dance school was at The Underground at CAC, then she went to Joan Brown School of Dance, her next school was at Tammy’s Tumbling and Dance Center, and currently she is at Dance Factory (which she has been at for the longest; for five years).
“Out of all the dance schools I’ve gone to, I like Dance Factory the most.”
She’s done just about anything. So far Azzara has explored the worlds of ballroom dancing, hip-hop, tap, jazz, ballet, contemporary, lyrical, and pointe, kick, Pom and competition. She also teaches the baby classes tumbling, ballet and tap. She’s currently just teaching because of color guard but will start dancing again in November.
Her favorite form of dance is tap, mainly because it’s not something that a lot of people are good at and it’s unique.
“Nothing really inspires me to dance,” Azzara said, “but I do it because it’s a nice way to express yourself without using words and I’m bad at words so it works well and it’s a nice way to get anger out.”
