A lifetime bond: A cowgirl and her horse

image copyWhen you hear the word team, what comes to your head is most likely football, baseball, basketball, soccer, among others. But one of the best teams that you have never thought of is a cowgirl and her horse.

Freshman Mady Clark somehow finds a way to take care of and see her horse every day at his stable along with doing homework and still having time for friends and family.

Clark started riding when she was 10 years old and she has loved horses ever since her and her family took a trip to Colorado and rode horses in the mountains.

She has had her horse, Lark, for about a year-and-a-half, but she has known him for about three-and-a-half years.

“We have this bond because when I had to give up gymnastics I needed something to fall back on and he was always there through all my tears.”

Clark’s goal with Lark is to make it into the national finals rodeo to run barrels, which is held in Las Vegas.

“I make sure he is clean, has enough food to eat, ride him daily so he gets a workout, I make sure he has a nice clean stall to sleep in, and keep him healthy.”

She said that he provides her with the thing she loves doing the most, riding.

“He is always so willing to do anything I ask of him. He definitely loves to make me feel better when I’ve had a bad day.”
