The orchestra concert, Festival of Strings, was held on Wednesday, April 9. This particular orchestra concert includes the elementary, middle, and high school Orchestras. This is their second to last concert of the year, so many of the students were dedicated on making it a great show.
Senior Noelle Brooks has been in orchestra since 5th grade and said, “This concert is all about showcasing other orchestras in the district, all in one night, including grades 5, 7, 8, and high school.”
Here is an audio file of some of the songs that were played that night.
The high school orchestra played three pieces including the Ellis Island, 1812 Overture, and the Song of Brotherhood.
For Junior Megan Hardesty, she had to learn the pieces in two weeks because of an illness. She thinks that the performance went well and that a lot of hard work had paid off.
“Mr. Henderson is a perfectionist and even he seemed very pleased with our performance at the end of the night,” Hardesty said. This is Hardesty’s ninth year in orchestra and enjoyed seeing the younger kids play.
Junior Christie Hamil has been in orchestra since 4th grade. She went into detail about how much she likes her class, including Mr. Henderson.
“I feel all the high school pieces were awesome to listen to and super fun to play,” Hamil said reflecting back on the concert in a very positive way.
The concert was a great way to show what Pattonville is all about within the entire district. After a successful concert, Hamil emphasizes on how good their Spring Concert will be and encourages the student body to come and show their support.
