Students in Drawing 2 got a unique opportunity to work with recycled library books.
Instead of throwing away the books, the librarians gave the books to Ms. Beth Kathriner to use in her art classes.
Many students, like junior Lauren Fisher, had the opportunity to work with a book. Each student could freely design their artwork from that item.
“We could either work with the entire book or a page, but there wasn’t really limitations on what we had to do,” Fisher said. “I got to cut out a few pages and made a pocket. I also made a poem with the words and I painted some pages.”
Unlike other art projects, students were given the freedom to do what they wanted to their book or page.
“My favorite thing was that this project was different because the teachers usually critique your artwork,” she said. “But this time, they can’t critique you because I’m creating it myself.”
