Schools and all district buildings and offices are closed in the Pattonville School District for Friday, Jan. 13, due to the forecasted ice storm. All buildings are also closed on Saturday, Jan. 14.
Pirate Press staff members went around the cafeteria during lunch on Thursday asking students if they prefer to have snow on a weekday or a weekend. The majority of students answered the weekday because school would be canceled.
The decision to cancel classes was made at about 4:30 p.m. on Thursday night although no ice had accumulated yet, but school was canceled in interest of safety. The Missouri Department of Transportation and Missouri State Highway Patrol have strongly been advising everyone to stay off the roads due to expected dangerous road conditions.
Students now have a 4-day weekend and will resume classes on Tuesday, following the Martin Luther King Holiday on Monday.
