Some Pattonville students are going to participate in the Polar Plunge on Saturday to support the Special Olympics, but all students had a chance to help raise money for the organization by donating $2 in order to wear pajamas to school on Friday.
For the past couple weeks, students have been raising money in preparation for the annual jump into Creve Coeur Lake.
“All of St. Louis comes together for this,” senior Megan Volz said. “Schools like Seckman, Parkway North, and Ritenour do it too.”
There aren’t many people from Pattonville taking the jump this year, but Volz encourages students to participate next year.
“You go and you get in a line, and when they call your group, you jump in,” she said. “Then you run out and it’s really cold, but fun.”
In order to raise more money for the cause, STUCO hosted an event on Feb. 24 where students could donate $2 in order to wear pajamas to school.
“This money will go toward our Pattonville Special Olympics fundraiser, and all of that will be donated to the Special Olympics along with the $75 we’ve already raised,” Volz said.
