Now that the Class of 2017 is gone, the juniors found a way to celebrate being the top students in the school on Thursday. Instead of waiting until senior year to celebrate, the students started early by wearing all black and wearing decorated crowns that said “Sen18r” or “2k18.”
Junior Alana Williams saw the idea at other schools and decided to bring it to Pattonville.
“Originally, two of my friends, Tyra and Mariyah, thought of the idea and they brought it to me for help, so I did.”
Since it was a new tradition, it wasn’t easy to get the message to the majority of the soon-to-be senior class. The group spread the word through social media like Snapchat and Twitter. The idea also wasn’t planned until days before, so getting everyone on board was tricky.
“Overall, it was pretty successful,” Williams said, “but I wish we could have told everyone sooner.”
The crowns were special because every one was handmade.
“We got the crowns from Burger King and everyone spray painted and decorated them their own way.”
The crowns were worn by boys and girls throughout the day.
“It was just a way to show we are coming into senior year and we are excited about it.”
