Art, it’s everywhere you turn.
One person, a sophomore named Emily Wilfong, is one of the contributors to the growing world of art. Wilfong is in Treble Choir, woodworking, and ceramics.
“[What draws me to art is] being able to express myself…to be able to show how I feel.”
Wilfong said her art interest however did not start at an early age. That was not the case when it came to choir.
“As a little kid, no. I think in seventh grade I began liking it a lot a more, and I like it even more this year,” Wilfong admits with a giggle. Wilfong is in treble choir, the second highest choir PHS offers.
“I’ve always liked singing,” Wilfong said matter-of-factly. “I was signed up accidently in seventh grade and loved it.”
Wilfong’s favorite type of art is when she is working with hands-on projects. “[I like] hands-on art, [things like] woodworking and ceramics.
Wilfong’s advice for artists is “Always work with it. It is hard to find your element. Personally I am not good at drawing, but I am good at woodworking and ceramics.
Some of Wilfong’s artwork can be seen in the art hallway in the glass case.
