Pattonville bowling team qualifies for state tournament

The Pattonville bowling club competed in the Scratch Qualifier for the state tournament on April 22. It was set up in the Baker Style which requires each player on the 5-person team to bowl 2 frames each.

This team had a pretty early morning. Even though the competition started at noon, they got to Olivette Lanes at about 8:30 a.m.

“We started off a little rough in the beginning but we powered through it in the end,” Julius Erby said.

There were nine teams competing at the event and seven qualified to advance. Pattonville finished in the last position to move on.

These teammates were thrilled that they qualified to go to state in May. They have been talking about this tournament since the beginning of the school year.

“When we figured out that we qualified, we were overwhelmed with excited,” Joseph Scherer said. “Our coach was even excited that she started crying.”

The state tournament will be May 26 in St. Joseph, Missouri.
