MULTIMEDIA Pattonville soccer prepares for District tournament

The Pattonville Pirates girls’ varsity soccer team is preparing for the start of Districts, which starts Tuesday May 15.

Francis Howell North’s journalism class will be broadcasting the game on its website. The Francis Howell North vs. Pattonville game starts at 7 p.m. and can be watched at FHNtoday.com/LIVE.

The girl’s have finished their regular season games with a record of 18-4. With regular season games over, their entire focus is going far in Districts and they have some pretty tough teams to play against because of their 2nd place seeding for Districts.

The girls will be playing Francis Howell North first on Tuesday, May 15, at 7 p.m. on the Knight’s home field. If the Pirates win their game on Tuesday, they will either play Hazelwood West or Francis Howell Central. Whoever wins the game on Thursday will win the District tournament.

Co-captains senior Lauren Griffin, Rachael Vitale, and junior Kendall Battle have some things to say about how they feel about the seeding they got and how they think the district tournament will play out, and how far they go.

Kendall Battle said it doesn’t really matter who they play.

“The District seeding didn’t work out for us too well,” she said, “but we are focused and ready to play.”

Lauren Griffin is hoping for success in her final season with the team.

“It would be great to win everything my senior year, especially since we are a young team and have worked so hard.”

The team’s goal matched that of Rachael Vitale: “We go to state baby!”
