The marching band is taking their show on the road this weekend when they compete in the Fox High School competition on Sept. 29.

Since performing their halftime routine at the football team’s victory against Kirkwood on Friday, Sept. 21, the marching band has been preparing for its next competition.

Vincent Abuelo said the show is always a work in progress.

“We revamped the show to visually appeal better to our audience.”

In the marching band’s first competition of the year, the Pride of Pattonville got 2nd place.

They have constantly been adding and improving their show titled Quest for Gold to give their audience the best possible experience they can give.

“We are truly going for the gold,” Abuelo said.

They plan to get the best possible scores and truly strike their audience by making them feel a strong connection to the music and understand the story of their performance.

In order to practice that, every morning before school officially begins, band members say they are already out on the field practicing their routine. They will continue to arrive to school early and stay for weekly evening practices to further continue improving their show, even up to the day of the actual competition.

The marching band will leave for Fox High School on Saturday morning. Fans can go to the competition and show their support as they continue on their Quest for Gold.
