Reese signs to play volleyball at Stephens College

Senior Megan Reese signed to Stephens College in Columbia, Missouri, on Tuesday morning. After playing volleyball at Pattonville for four years, she will be continuing her academic and athletic career at the next level.

“Signing to college made everything surreal,” she said. “I feel like I have accomplished a big dream I have always had.”

College sports are a whole new ballgame than high school sports. There is new competition, more people fighting for a spot on the court, and new team members that you have to adjust to playing with.

“I’m looking forward to meeting new people and experiencing life on my own,” Reese said. “It is kind of upsetting to know that my high school volleyball career is over, but at the same time I am ready to start fresh.”

Reese was a 4-year starting varsity setter and was named 2nd team All-Conference for the past 2 years. She set the school career assists records and is tied for third in the state for a record number of aces in a set.

Many of her friends and family were able to come to support her during the milestone event of signing and it was a great sight to see all of the love and encouragement given to her.

“Being able to sign makes the whole high school experience more complete,” she said. “I am so thankful for what high school has given me, but I’m so ready to begin my life.”
