Girls’ basketball dominates McCluer in home opener
The girls’ varsity basketball team (1-0) dominated McCluer (0-1) in their first home game of the season, 84-19.
Leading scorer for Pattonville was senior Brooke Jenkins with 17 points. She shot 7-for-14 from the field and 3-for-7 from beyond the arc. Close behind Jenkins was Lacy Dixon with 14 points shooting 5-for-9 from the field and 3-for-5 beyond the arc. Overall, the Pirates shot amazingly well from the field shooting together as a team 53 percent from the field and from beyond the arc.
The Comets struggled from the very beginning scoring only 13 points in the first half. McCluer just couldn’t find their shot and couldn’t collect any boards for any second chance points. The Comets had only a total of 23 rebounds compared to the 41 the Pirates had throughout the game.
Pattonville was able to share the ball getting a phenomenal amount of assists. Niya Danfort for Pattonville had the game high for assists with 7 out of the total 21 the entire Pirate team had.
Pattonville (1-0) will play another home game against Clayton High School (2-1) on Dec. 4 at 6 p.m.
