The boys’ varsity basketball team has won just one game so far this season and are just recovering from a 72-28 home loss to Jennings (5-1), but their focus turns now to tournament play.

Pattonville (1-7) has been invited to play in the 52nd Annual Pekin Insurance Holiday Tournament.

There are 16 total teams participating in the tournament and Pattonville is the No. 15 seed.

Their first game will be against 2nd-seeded Morton High School from Morton, Illinois, on Dec. 27 at 8 p.m. in Hawkins Gym.

Julius Erby who has only played three games so far in the season is averaging a team high 13.7 ppg and 8 rpg.

The only other player for Pattonville who is averaging 10+ points on the season is Kellen Thames who is averaging 11.4 ppg.

The Pirates struggled to score against Jennings only scoring 8 points by halftime, and while they were able to make a run in the third quarter scoring 14, Jennings was able to pull further ahead with 25 of their own.

The Jennings Warriors beat the Pattonville Pirates 72-28 and it was a mismatch from the beginning.

Pattonville just did not have the height and speed to combat players like Elijah Hicks and Buck Bowling.

The Warriors have four players on their roster listed at or above 6-feet-5-inches while the Pirate’s tallest player is Julius Erby who is listed at 6-feet-4-inches.
