Pattonville boys’ basketball loses league match-up against Eureka

Pattonville continued to struggle against teams in their conference and are currently 1-2 in league play and 8-11 on the season.

The Pirates boys’ basketball team lost against Eureka (12-5) 59-52 on Tuesday night. It was a closely fought game with each team having one player score 20 or more points.

For the Pirates, the leading scorer was senior Julius Erby who clocked in 25 points and added 13 rebounds for another double-double on the season. Alijah Carter had 13 points shooting 5-for-9 from the field and 2-for-3 from behind the arc. He finished the night 2 rebounds short of a double-double.

Seniors Cory Stringer and Andre Webb did not perform to their fullest potential with Stringer missing all the shots he attempted from the field and Webb scoring just 2 points, both from the free throw line.

Pattonville freshman guard Kellen Thames, who had a 12-point breakout game against rival school Ritenour a game earlier, only had 5 points on the night shooting just 35 percent from the field.

The Wildcats were led by Avery Taggart with 22 points, 8 of which came from the free-throw line. Jhalon Asher-Sanders was their second leading scorer with 15 points. Sanders shot six field goals and added two 3-pointers.
