SEC Breakdown

After four weeks of upsets, nail-biting endings, and monumental blowouts, the college football season has produced many interesting storylines. In America’s most competitive Conference, the SEC, the Alabama Crimson Tide have been rolling over their opponents, crushing teams like Michigan and Arkansas 41-14 and 52-0, respectively.

However, the LSU Tigers, although without the defensive star-power of the Honey Badger Tyrann Mathieu, are not far behind Alabama, their juggernaut rival, promising to be an intriguing matchup between the two SEC powerhouses. Nevertheless, both teams should not overlook the 21st ranked Bulldogs of Mississippi State on their quests for the SEC Title.

As for the SEC East, the resurgent Florida Gators have claimed early supremacy over its competitors, led by sophomore quarterback Jeff Driskel. Head Coach Will Muschamp has the Gators playing tough football on both sides of the ball, averaging about 30 points per game while holding opponents to under 13.

As good as the Gators appear to be, they have yet to play several dominant contenders in the Georgia Bulldogs, South Carolina Gamecocks, and a non-conference, in-state rivalry game against the Florida State Seminoles.

The Georgia Bulldogs high-octane offense with quarterback Aaron Murray has them sitting in the 5th overall spot in the nation, averaging nearly 48 points per game.

As for the South Carolina Gamecocks, their claim to fame comes from their solid defense with emerging stars like sophomore defensive end Jadeveon Clowney and junior running back Marcus Lattimore.

Tennessee makes a strong case for themselves as well, but an early loss to Florida at home doesn’t help their case.

Finally, as for the Missouri Tigers…welcome to the SEC.
