With 12 full days off for winter break, some students may not know what to do with their time or even what different activities are available across St. Louis. What students may not know is that there is a lot of fun to be had without even leaving the St. Louis area.
Ice Skating – Steinberg Ice Rink, located in Forest Park, is one of the most popular ice skating locations in the St. Louis area. It is the largest outdoor rink in the midwest and is surrounded by cafes and other fun activities. Admission to this rink is $6 and the fee for skate rental is $4. The rink is open through Feb. 28. Skiing and Snowboarding – Hidden Valley Ski Resort has over 30 acres of land to ski and snowboard for hours on end. This resort is located in Wildwood and midnight sessions are offered on Fridays and Saturdays. Hidden Valley hopes to open on Dec. 23. Hidden Valley
Sledding – If it happens to snow over break, going sledding is a must! Though there are plenty of hills in backyards and neighborhoods, a popular sledding destination is Art Hill in Forest Park. People come all over to sled down the huge hill.
Explore Central West End and The Loop – Central West End and The Loop are both popular places for teenagers and young adults, especially during the night. Whether you want to go shopping with friends or get coffee at three in the morning, these places are perfect for you. The Loop offers many restaurants such as Cheese-ology, Pi Pizzeria, and Fitz’s; Central West End also offers many attractions such as Coffee Cartel. The Loop
Wild Lights, St. Louis Zoo – Come out to the St. Louis Zoo to be amazed by a holiday wonderland and thousands of lights. Displays include Swan Lake and Penguins in Paradise. Admission is free; food and hot chocolate can be purchased. Wild Lights
Our Lady of the Snows Way of Lights – If you are looking to go on a drive, just about 30 minutes out of St. Louis is a light display in Belleville, Ill. Also offered at this light display is camel rides, a petting zoo, and a laser light show. Our Lady of the Snows
City Museum – The City Museum is a fun place to be if it is too cold to be outside. Get a group of friends together and head downtown for the day or evening. Enjoy indoor as well as outdoor attractions. Admission is $12. City Museum
Wicked at the Fox – If you love musicals, or if you are wanting to see your first one, Wicked is the show for you. It is family friendly, fun, and has a great life message hidden in the story. The show will be at the Fox until Jan. 6, 2013. Wicked
