First 2 weeks of high school: Complete.
Many students remember what it was like on their first day of freshman year. The halls looked endless, the ceilings looked sky high, getting lost was basically part of the job, and the people looked like Shaquille O’Neal’s children. Everyone has been through it, now a new breed of freshmen have arrived at Pattonville, and have completed their first weeks of high school.
Freshman year is one of the most important years in a students’ school career. The decisions are made on what sports to play, what clubs and activities to be involved in, and so on.
“Being involved in clubs and activities is important because it makes you want to come to school, and makes you feel like you have a part in the school,” senior and STUCO member Sam Milligan said.
When asked which activities they wanted to do, many freshmen said they plan to play sports.
“I play football and plan to run track,” Nick Muraski said.
When asked about sports and activities, another freshman, Ronisha Wilkerson, said, “I will run track, cheerlead, and play soccer.”
Another great thing about high school is the amount of freedom students are given.
“I like the freedom, and that we are able to use our cell phones at lunch and in the hallway,” Hesiris Staples-Bey said.
One of the most important things about freshman year is getting off on the right foot with grades. Students’ grades freshman year can reflect on the rest of their high school career.
“I hope to get good grades and go to college, and hopefully find a good job,” Dillon Kilgore said.
After hearing some of the freshman stories from the first week, older students shouldn’t forget their roots. Everyone was once that confused, little munchkin running around the halls with a schedule in hand, unsure of what was ahead.
