A homecoming queen was crowned during halftime of the football game in the fall. But on Feb. 20 at 7 p.m., the men of Pattonville will shine during Mr. PHS.
Every year, the National Honor Society puts on the show.
There are 14 Mr. PHS contestants in 2015 and in order to compete, there are some requirements.
“You have to have a teacher who sponsors a club/activity sign a paper which means that they are allowing you to represent their class/club,” Trevor Sims, who is Mr. Digital Design said. “Then, you have to have a talent that you can perform, and then have to learn the dance that everyone is going to embarrass themselves doing at the beginning.”
Junior Cole Mansell who is Mr. Swim and Dive said he is participating to stay connected with the school.
“I saw it as a way to have fun in high school,” Mansell said. “I went to Mr. PHS last year and it looked fun.”
Sims is doing it as a way to make a memory before he graduates.
“It’s my senior year and I thought it would be a fun thing to do.”
While the dance for some might be embarrassing, Mansell is looking for ways to make his performance as good as it can be.
“My group and I practice after school somedays and a few of us purchased props for the talent portion of the show,” Mansell said.
Sims is preparing for the talent portion and hopes that he is successful with her act.
“For my act specifically, I’m doing stand up,” Sims said. “I have to write the whole thing down and memorize it which is tedious because it’s 5 minutes of repetitive word play and I have to memorize it.”
Mr. Ryan Brueckman, the NHS sponsor, said the club puts on Mr. PHS as a fundraiser.
“The money raised goes to the NHS scholarship which is given to students in NHS.”
Tickets are $5 and can be bought at lunch or at the door. The show is Feb. 20 at 7 p.m.
