Jenkins drops 17 points in a win against the McCluer Comets

In their very first home game of the season, the girls’ varsity basketball team defeated McCluer, 84-19.

Senior Brooke Jenkins led all scorers dropping 17 points against the Comets.

The Pirates scored 20 points in the 1st quarter and held a 52-13 lead heading into the locker room for halftime.

Jenkins scored 12 of her points before the break.

“I felt good,” she said. “I was making a lot of jump shots and playing with my team, having a fun time.”

Coming out the locker room, Jenkins scored her last 5 points of the night in the 3rd quarter by means of a 3-pointer and a field goal. She shot 3-for-7 from beyond the arc and was 50 percent (7-for-14) from the field.

“Knowing that I can score like that was a really reassuring thing because I struggled at the end of last season so for me, making a comeback is my priority,” Jenkins said. “I beat the odds and remained humble, not everybody has an opportunity to play how I play or think how I think.”
