Among the many activities being a high school senior brings, one extremely exciting one is the oh-so anticipated senior trip. The senior class trip brings many students together who may not normally have contact in a typical school setting. It also provides for one final time for seniors to spend time with the majority of their class before parting ways and moving on to the rest of their life.
Thanks to junior Shaun Boyd, the 2014 Pattonville High School senior class has a very strong chance of being able to go on a fantastic senior trip. Possible locations that have been decided on by participating juniors are the following: South Padre Island, Texas; Bahamas cruise; Miami, Florida; and Orlando, Florida.
The first meeting to discuss the senior trip took place during Spring Break on March 27 and there will be another meeting in mid-May to continue to update those who are possibly interested in going on the trip.
Boyd has done extensive research on possible travel locations, costs, and even what days PHS students are off school during the 2013-2014 school year. He said that the planned dates for the trip are either spring break of next year, March 24-28, 2014, or after graduation, May 29, 2014.
Now the question that is burning on everyone’s minds is the cost of the trip.
“The price range should be no more than $900 at the maximum,” Boyd said. “But the more people who go and are committed directly correlates with the price due to group pricing.”
This should be an incentive for current juniors to attempt to get involved with the planning and pledge to attend.
Boyd said he feels optimistic about the actual occurrence of the trip.
“I would like to have another meeting for a lot more people to attend in order to go over the necessities and to keep the planning moving forward,” Boyd said.
While senior trips are often just a distant dream, 2014 PHS seniors can turn it into a reality with the help of Boyd and a large majority of the current junior class. Look for more updated information to come out in May.
