It is a tradition for seniors to make t-shirts for their senior class each year at Pattonville. This year, seniors designed a t-shirt with the phrase, “The world’s not ending, we’re just taking over” on the front, and the signatures of the class members on the back. Controversy has arisen because only part of the 2013 senior class signed the shirt, but also the shirts were misprinted.
When asked about her opinion of the shirts, senior Erica Riggs said, “Having everyone sign the back was a cool idea but not even a third of our class signed it. They should have tried harder to get everyone to sign it.” The selling of shirts was during all lunch sessions, which was also when seniors had the opportunity to sign the shirt. Seniors like Riggs believe the shirt should have been signed during Pirate Connections.
Many seniors were excited for the shirts because the design is different than years in the past. Senior Chris Aman said, “It’s a shame they were messed up. I think the company should redo them for us since we paid a fair amount of money for them.”
Senior Paige Goss did not order a t-shirt, but she signed the back and noted that it was cramped. She said about the misprint, “I think it’s annoying that no one is reordering the shirts, but it’s also funny that there’s a knight on them.”
For seniors who ordered a t-shirt, they can pick it up in Mr. Fitzgerald’s office between classes or before school. Students are being given the option to keep the shirt, but be given a $5 refund.
