Pattonville High School hosted the Suburban North Conference Meet for boys and girls track runners on May 1, 2013. This was the first Suburban North Conference Meet hosted at Pattonville High School’s new stadium and a chance for the Pirates to show off the newly constructed track. The meet was intended on being two days long, but was crammed into one afternoon due to forecasted weather conditions. Many students participated in helping move hurdles, record times, and successfully contributed to the conference meet.
PHS varsity boys track placed 8th, while the PHS varsity girls track team finishing in 7th place. PHS JV Boys Track runners placed 4th, while the PHS JV Girls Track runners finished in 2nd place.
This was the last meet for many track runners, but a group of the track stars are heading to districts. They will then compete for the chance to run in sectionals.
Below are five questions with Sarah Mohrmann, a varsity runner that is heading to districts May 11, 2013.
Q1) How did you feel PHS did hosting the Suburban North Conference?
Sarah – I think that overall it went really well. I was really surprised how organized all our coaches were and I was really proud to have the conference meet at our new stadium.
Q2) How did you feel about the two-day long conference meet being transformed into one-day long?
Sarah – I was pretty upset about it, because I had to run 1-½ miles in one day rather then split it up into two days.
Q3) How has track helped you during your high school experience?
Sarah – It helped me in making long-term friendships that I will have for a long time. Plus, running track gives me a meaning in life and a place in high school.
Q4) What races did you run during conference and how did you do?
Sarah – I ran the 800 and 1,600. And I placed 1st in the 1,600.
Q5) What steps are you taking in preparing for districts?
Sarah – I am letting my training work for itself. I have been training really hard for the past couple of months, and I’m trying to find a good place for myself at districts.
