“Swimming gets me back into the groove of the school year. It helps me focus and it wouldn’t be much of a school year without it,” said Evan Collins.
With the start of a new school year, many students are getting back into the swing of juggling school and a sport. For Evan Collins, a junior at PHS, he couldn’t be more thrilled for his third swim season.
Also, this is the first swim season that the boys get to use the new pool.
Here is an insight on Collins’ upcoming goals…
Q.) How does the new pool feel using it for the first time during the boys’ swim season?
“It feels really nice. The last pool at Bridgeton always was really hot. This pool layout is more for competitors.”
Q.) What are some of your goals for this swim season?
“My goal is mostly to win. I mean, also to have fun. But mostly win.”
Q.) How has the season changed from last year?
“We have about 12 new freshmen that are all already really good. Half the team from last year has graduated though, but I’m excited to make new friends.”
Q.) Are there any specific seniors you want to give a shout out to?
“Yes, I miss Brandon van Buren. I’ve known that kid for awhile and it’s weird he’s gone. I also miss Zack Lambros because he was really competitive.”
Q.) How would you describe the physical activity during swimming?
“It is straight physical activity with no breaks. It is an all-or-nothing sport. You need to give it your all at practice.
