Meet new soccer coach: Mr. Marcus Christian

IMG_20150819_092046
Mr. Marcus Christian is in his first season of being the varsity boys’ soccer coach.

Mr. Marcus Christian has become a three-sport coach at Pattonville. In addition to working with the swimming and diving team and water polo team, he has now added on the duty of working with the boys’ varsity soccer team.

“Oh no, I’m not leaving water polo or swimming,” Christian said. “I’m not giving up on anything.”

Christian isn’t new to the soccer world. He previously coached at Lafayette.

“When I was first hired here at Pattonville, there were no soccer coaching positions available,” he said. “I’m most comfortable coaching soccer, so of course, it was a no-brainer when the opportunity came up.”

The new coach believes the guys will have a good season this year, and highly believes in them.

“I know the team will do well this year. They have a strong senior leadership with motivation and will to succeed,” Christian said. “The team nominated senior Micah Evans and junior Jeremy Fechtman for team captains.”

Christian is not concentrating only on the winning-losing ratio this season.

“That’s not the most important thing,” he said. “I want the guys to enjoy the time spent together. I know when they look back on the season later on, they won’t remember the scores but the time spent together.”
