The sound of cheering fans filled his ear as senior Hamza Alvi looked at the Busch Stadium field to see the players walking out. For the second time this year, Busch Stadium held an international soccer game and this time it featured the countries Argentina and Bosnia-Herzegovina.
“The outcome of the game was something that I did expect because I knew Argentina was going to win,” said Alvi.
Argentina ended up winning the game 2-0 with both goals coming from midfielder Sergio Agüero in the 40th and 66th minute.
Players from both teams have played in St. Louis before in previous matches, such as Pablo Zabaleta (Argentina), Ángel Di Maria (Argentina), Sergio Agüero (Argentina) and Edin Džeko (Bosnia-Herzegovina).
Both teams are competing in this year’s World Cup in Brazil and Alvi hopes Argentina goes far.
With the hope that more international soccer comes to St. Louis, Alvi said, “I would want England and Spain to play in St. Louis because they are my two favorite teams.”
