Local service member Chief Warrant Officer 3 (CWO3) Scott Gradel of the United States Coast Guard was honored as the “USO Service Member of the Game” at a recent St. Louis Blues hockey game.
CWO3 Gradel has two children currently attending Pattonville schools, Valerie is a freshman at Pattonville High School, and Megan is in the 8th grade at Holman Middle School, and was on the jumbo screen with him as he was recognized.
“I thought it was a good thing for people in the military who have done a lot of great things to be recognized,” Megan Gradel said.
He served in Operation Iraqi Freedom from 2004 to 2005, and currently serves as Senior Marine Inspector protecting the waterways at Sector Upper Mississippi River.
“It was so cool,” Megan added.
Scott Gradel is a 26 year veteran of the Coast Guard and plans to retire after 30 years.
