Cyrah Bryant, a Pattonville high school junior, is involved in varsity athletics such as basketball and golf, and is also in chamber choir. Out of all these activities she is involved in, her love is basketball.
Bryant started playing basketball in 4th grade, but stopped until picking it back up again in 8th grade. She plans on playing basketball in college and is on the right track to do so by playing in high school.
The Lady Pirates are currently 10-5 and have been on a 9-game winning streak.
“The whole team has a really close bond,” Bryant said. “We’re pretty much on the same page and we all have the same objectives. We love each other dearly and welift each other up.”
While the mesh of a team is important for success, it must have a leader, and Bryant sees that is star senior Nikki Callahan.
“The most responsible player is Nikki Callahan,” Bryant said. “She really shows it and has a leader mentality.”
Next year, Bryant will be a senior and she said that she is “extremely excited for next year’s season. I’m ready to start another legacy with my teammates.”
With this season in mid-year form, she is already looking toward the future, but she knows that she is a student first and an athlete second.
“For anyone wanting to play next year, keep your grades up,” Bryant said. “School is first, and no matter what you do, play hard and never let or give up.”
The Lady Pirates next home game will be Feb. 3 at 6 p.m. against the Parkway Central Colts.
“The basketball program as a whole really appreciates everyone’s support and would love for you guys to keep coming to our games.”
