Work force affects home life for Steinmeyer

Samantha Steinmeyer grew up with her dad being a police officer. While she knows his job is to protect and serve, she does worry about him being on duty and it gets to her every once in awhile.

“I feel extremely safe all the time, and it’s great knowing that he helps people,” Steinmeyer said.

Mr. Steinmeyer’s dedication to the police force was influenced by the fact that he wanted to help people.

Sometimes helping others leads to negative things.

Something that Steinmeyer has seen recently is students tweeting about the police and putting them in a negative light for doing their job.

Steinmeyer said it’s hurtful to read the tweets about kids being mad at cops for things like getting pulled over.

“They [police officers] risk their lives every day,” Steinmeyer said, “and people treat them so horribly.”

She recently got her driver’s license and her dad was the one that taught her to drive.

“Let’s just say I won’t be breaking laws when I drive,” Steinmeyer said. “I definitely know the consequences.”
