Training himself for battle

Corey Lumpkins

Corey Lumpkins, a senior at Pattonville High School, is a unique individual who has many interests including playing football.

“I love the contact in this sport.” Now two years since Lumpkins started his football hobby, he said, “I thought it was a sport I couldn’t play but now I am OK at.”

Lumpkins also enjoys singing and playing his guitar during his free time, sometimes at the same time.

“I enjoy playing the guitar while singing.”

He uses his talent because it was “something that was just there, and there wasn’t any type of reason to just waste a beautiful talent.”

Because of his skill, Lumpkins is enrolled in choir to keep his voice nice and strong.

But as of his future goals, Lumpkins plans on joining the United States Marines.

He plans on enlisting directly after high school which means his future starts immediately.

“It’s for the best,” Lumpkins said, who sees himself as an officer in the Marine Corps.

For about four months after graduation, Lumpkins will spend all his time dedicated to training camp to prepare himself for the Marines.
