For most people, change is frightening and new encounters can be stressful, but for new English teacher Ms. Jodi Moeller, it’s just another rodeo.

Moeller taught for 11 years at Hazelwood West and decided it was time for a change.

“It’s the sense of community,” she said. “I taught 11 years at Hazelwood and I want to be a part of a community that is really supportive and proud of what they are doing, and I feel like that’s what’s happening here at Pattonville.”

Moeller always wanted to be an English teacher, but it wasn’t her first career.

“I worked with the Division of Family Services right out of college, and while that experience was great, I decided to go back to college and get an English degree and it was the best decision I’ve ever made.”

Moeller describes her teaching style as laid back, supportive and individualized, and she wants to learn and connect with her students on a personal level.

“I try to get to know all my kids.”

Although being a new teacher is nerve-racking, Moeller is excited for the school year and eager to learn.

“I’m still learning how everything works and who to go to and who to call because down here, I just know who’s around me and I’m kind of learning the whole system and getting comfortable in it.”
