With a name like Positive School, it has to be a good idea, right? No, not exactly. Although it was first created to help students who cannot handle the rigors of normal school, it quickly turned into a haven for lazy students who do not want to put in effort.
I do not think it is the school’s responsibility to spend time on students who do not want to spend time on school. While some students actually do need Pos, others are merely taking advantage of the system.
Some students in Pos just want to cut class at noon. Well then, why not have them join the COE program? At least then they would be working for the 2 hours that others are in school actually learning.
If people in Pos really think they deserve a diploma and to walk with the rest of their graduating class, then they should have to put in just as much work, right?
Pos is a great idea, but it sends students back into kindergarten where they get half days and are handled with knit gloves. As students, we are supposed to mature through high school, gain independence, respect, and most of all responsibility. None of which are taught by the very principles of Pos.
This example of structure shows students of Pos that if they cannot handle the work everyone else is doing, it does not matter because the world will make it easier for them.
In a job setting, I wonder how the students of Pos will thrive. Will they just work half of the day and leave when they go on lunch break?
