Career speakers were available to meet with students on Sept. 22 during Pirate Connections. Presentations were made by professionals in different fields including nursing, cosmetology, EMT, restaurant owner and carpenter’s apprenticeship.

All four branches of the U.S. military also had informational booths at Pattonville High School during that time allowing students to learn more about the Armed Forces.

National Guard, Navy, Marine, and Air Force recruiters provided students with informational brochures, recruitment flyers, and applications to those interested or considering joining the Armed Forces.

Senior Kaleb Byrd attended and is planning to enlist in the Army after high school.

The recruiters discussed possible futures in the military, and what students can expect from basic training and jobs in each branch.

“The recruiter explained how important the ASVAB test is to your success in the military,” Byrd said. “I also think the military is the only job I can see myself doing. Go Army!”
