Renaissance luncheon awards students

On Wednesday, February 6th, Pattonville’s Renaissance club hosted a luncheon for students who raised their GPA by .5 from spring semester 2012 to fall semester 2012. The event was catered by Tornatore’s Italian restaurant, located in Bridgeton. More than 100 students were given a ticket to receive this lunch that consisted of salad, white sauce pasta, red sauce pasta, a cookie and drink.

Beth Moritz, Renaissance sponsor, said that she enjoys this event because students should be recognized for improving. “I don’t care if students raise their GPA from a 1.5, 2.5, or 3.5. All that matters is that students are making the effort to improve,” Moritz says.

Renaissance members took upon themselves the responsibility to plan the event, including decorating, serving, and cleaning up after lunches. Of the Renaissance workers, senior Erica Riggs played a large role in planning the luncheon. “I was nervous because Mrs. Moritz gave me a lot of responsibilities, but it turned out to be a big success. The food was great and it was nice rewarding people for raising their GPA,” Riggs says.

The luncheon has been hosted for many years at Pattonville by Renaissance, and will continue to be hosted for years to come.
